2013 SEASON
2013 04 20 NETS UP:: PRACTICE STARTS TUESDAY 23rd ,THURSDAY 25th weather permitting. try to use emails to inform members about practice using 5day met office forecast and have flexable practice days when it is dry.
*****DUNGANNON HAS NOW BEEN AFFILIATED TO THE NCU FOR 100 YEARS PLAYING IN THE JUNIOR CUP IN 1913 FOR THE FIRST TIME.
iT IS ALSO 148 YEARS AT LEAST FROM WHEN DUNGANNON BEGAN PLAYING CRICKET IN 1865 ( SEE EARLY DUNGANNON CRICKET ).
THE CLUB IS GOING THROUGH A VERY DIFFICULT PERIOD WITH TOO MANY MEMBERS NOT AVAILABLE TO PLAY AND THIS FORCED THE CLUB TO WITHDRAW THE 2nd XI FROM THE LEAGUE AFTER 53 YEARS. THIS IS NOT GOOD AND THE 2ndXI NEEDS TO BE REFORMED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IF THE CLUB IS TO SURVIVE.
WE NEED MANY MORE PLAYERS WILLING TO PLAY IN MOST MATCHES IN THE SEASON AND NOT THE NORM OF LESS THAN 50% AT PRESENT.
THE CLUB DOES NEED AN INFUSION OF NEW PLAYERS, YOUNG AND OLD , TO ENSURE SURVIVAL. .
THE CLUB IS BEING CARRIED ON THE SHOULDERS OFF A FEW HARD WORKERS AND THIS A RECIPE FOR EXTINCTION .
!!!!!!! WE NEED YOUR HELP !!!!!!!
********************
THIS WOULD BE A SHAME AFTER THE WORK PUT IN BY BILLY AND CHRIS ADRAIN TO LAY AND MAINTAIN THE VERY GOOD SQUARE IN DUNGANNON PARK SINCE 1999.
********************
IN THE FIRST MATCH OF THE 2013 SEASON NEW LOOK TEAM CAME UP WITH A WIN AGAINST DONAGHADEE WITH MARK CREEVY, A NEW AUSSI/ COOKSTOWN RECRUIT , SCORING A HARD HITTING DEBUT 95 ( 5 SIXES, 6 FOURS ).
DUNGANNON EXIT JUNIOR CUP LOSING BY 10 WICKETS to CSNI WHO PROVED MUCH TOO STRONG FOR THE VERY INEXPERIENCED DUNGANNON SIDE WHO FOUGHT BRAVELY , FIELDING ENTHUSIASTICALLY EVEN WHEN THE RESULT WAS A FOREGONE CONCLUSION.
CHRIS ADRAIN , AFTER HELPING WITH PUTTING OUT SCOREBOARD AND BOUNDARY TAPE ETC FOR OVER AN HOUR, OPENED THE BATTING AND POSTED ANOTHER HALFCENTURY ( 65 ).
HE HELD THE INNINGS TOGETHER AND WITH THE HELP OF DAN KANE ( 17 ) AND IAN TAYLOR ( 11 ) TO REACH A MODEST 122 IN 49 OVERS . THE EIGHT OTHERS MANAGED 16 RUNS BETWEEN .
CSNI HAD LITTLE THOUBLE REACHING THEIR TARGET IN 20.3 OVERS HELPED BY A THREE DROPPED CATCHES .
ONE DESERVED A HALF CENTURY MORE THAN CHRIS AFTER HIS WORK ON THE SQUARE AND COACHING IN THE NETS DURING THE WEEK AS WELL AS PREPARING THE GROUND FOR THE GAME.
UNFORTUNATELY OUR SENIOR MEMBERS SEEM UNABLE TO TURN OUT . MARK CREVEY AND JEFF MEEKE ( HOLIDAY ) WERE UNAVAILABLE ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS .
**************************
FIELDING A SIDE CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM ; 40 TEXTS FROM CHRIS ADRAIN YIELDED 2 PLAYERS TO RAISE THE TEAM TO 8 PLAYERS ON THURSDAY. RUNNING THE COACHING PRACTICE PAID OFF AS CHRIS ADRAIN WAS ABLE TO ENLIST 3 SCHOOLBOYS TO FILL OUT THE TEAM AGAINST ARDS. 21 PLAYERS USED IN 3 GAMES, 13 BOWLERS HAVE BEEN USED.
DUNGANNON LOST HEAVILY. EVERYONE WHO TURNED OUT HAD A BAT OR BOWL AS DUNGANNON HAD NO CHANCE OF WINNING AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL ENCOURAGE THEM TO PLAY AGAIN, ONLY CHRIS REMAINED FROM LAST SEASON'S ATTACK AND WE HAD ONLY TWO BATSMEN CAPABLE OF A BIG SCORE AND BOTH WERE LBW WHICH IS ALWAYS CHANCY, LOOK AT INTERNATIONAL UMPIRING DECISIONS.
MARK CREEVY SCORED HIS SECOND HALF CENTURY IN TWO GAMES. MARK HAS BEEN A GREAT BOON TO THE CLUB IN THE ABSENCE OF OUR OTHER GOOD BATSMEN.
*****************************
PSNI MATCH 22JUNE IS OFF BECAUSE OF G8. WHY WAS THE MATCH ARRANGED IN THE FIRST PLACE??????? PORTADOWN GAME ,15 th JUNE, WASHED
******************************
BISC WON 20/20 GAME AIDED BY A NUMBER OF DROPPED CATCHES BY DUNGANNON, BOWLING NOT TOO BAD BUT CATCHING IS VERY POOR.
MARK CREEVY STARRED AGAIN WITH 48no AND STEVE MADE A WELCOME APPEARENCE SCORING 95 - 3 IN REPLY TO BISC 150 - 4
******************************
DUNGANNON COULD ONLY FIELD 8 PLAYERS AGAINST DONAGHADEE. CHRIS ADRAIN BATTED THROUGH THE INNINGS FOR AN EXCELLENT 92 ONLY TO BE STUMPED OFF THE LAST BALL OF THE INNINGS LEAVING DUNGANNON
ON 141 -- 5 . DONAGHADEE CHASED DOWN THE TOTAL RATHER EASILY AS DUNGANNON HAD ONLY 6 OUTFIELDERS . CHRIS ADRAIN STARRED WITH THE BALL TAKING 3 - 23 . 75 YEAR OLD , BILLY ADRAIN CAME OUT OF RETIREMENT AND HAD AN OUTSANDING ANALYSIS ( 4 -- 2 -- 5 -- 1) ,ONE BAD BALL WAS HIT FOR FOUR . JEKK MEEKE 1 -- 9 .
DCC MANAGED TO PLAY OUT THE REST OF THE SEASON FIELDING 10 MEN AGAINST PSNI LOSING BY 57 RUNS AND THEN LOSING THE LAST MATCH OF THE SEASON BY 5 WKTS AGAINST VICTORIA AS MARK CREEVY MADE HIS THIRD HALF CENTURY OF THE SEASON TO PIP CHRIS ADRAIN TO THE BATTING CUP .
